Overwatering
What we spotted
The lower leaves yellow first and the soil is still damp from the last watering.
What to do
Let the soil dry three fingers deep before watering again, and check the pot has a hole.

Identification · diagnosis · reminders
Take a picture of the plant. Broto gives you the species, how to care for it and, when something is wrong, the likely causes in order — with a test you can run at home to tell which one it is.

Too little light
What we spotted
Stretched stem and new leaves smaller than the old ones.
What to do
Move it closer to a window, with no sun hitting the leaves directly.
How to confirm the problem
Test at home
Overwatering
Push a finger three centimetres into the soil. If it comes out damp two days after watering, the problem is too much water — not fungus.
Too little light
Look at the stem: if it stretched toward the window and the new leaf came out smaller than the old ones, it is short on light — not pests.

How to grow it
It grows in long vines. Train it up a stake or let it trail from a shelf. Cut just above a node to make it fuller.
What it stands for
Known as the money plant. In many homes it is a housewarming gift, for its reputation of taking root anywhere.

The idea
Plant apps can tell you the name. You point the camera, Epipremnum aureum shows up, and that is the end of it. But nobody looks at a yellow leaf wanting the Latin name. They want to know what to do.
And there was the other half of the problem: the price. The apps that do more than name the plant charge like professional tools, and they charge the person with three pots on a shelf. That is why Broto starts free and stays useful for free — adding plants, marking that you watered and getting the reminder cost nothing.
The real question is another one: why did this leaf turn yellow? And it has no single answer. It can be too much water, too little water, direct sun, or the plant simply dropping its old leaves. Each one asks something different from you, and doing the wrong one costs the plant.
Broto was born to answer that question. It starts from the photo, names the species because that matters for everything after it, and then goes where the others stop: it lists the likely causes in order, explains what it saw in each one, and gives you a test to run at home, hands in the soil, to find out which one is yours.
A plant cannot talk. But it signals, and that can be learned.
Who it is for
You do not need to know anything about gardening. You need a plant and a phone.
It came home with a pot and no instructions at all. Broto names the species, says how much water and how much light it needs, and tells you when it is time to do something.
It is almost always water: too much or too little, and both turn the leaf yellow. Broto tells you which one is yours while there is still time to fix it.
Ten, fifteen plants, each on its own rhythm. Broto keeps the routine of every one of them and warns you on the day, so you do not have to remember a thing.
It works for the plant on the shelf, on the balcony and in the yard — from a succulent to a lemon tree.

Questions
No. The first 3 days have everything the complete plan has, no charge and no card asked. After that you choose whether to subscribe or stay on the free tier.
Analysing a photo needs the internet, because that is what reads the image. Your plant list, the routine and the reminders keep working offline.
No, and it does not pretend otherwise. When the photo is not clear enough, Broto says so instead of inventing a name, and you can correct the species by hand.
One reminder per plant, at the time you choose for each task. You can switch tasks off one by one, and nothing arrives in the middle of the night.
You can, from the app itself, and the account goes with it. You can also export everything to a file first if you want to keep it.
It does. It reads any plant you photograph, vegetable beds and fruit trees included, and talks about growing and plant health. Two things it never does: say whether what the plant produces is edible, and give pesticide dosages — there it names the category and tells you to follow the label.
